What this chapter covers

  • Verify the site. Use a Domain property (via a DNS record) so it covers every subdomain and http/https version.
  • Submit a sitemap. And confirm Google can read it.
  • Read the Performance report. Clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, and which ones to care about.
  • Fix indexing problems. The Pages report, what “Crawled, currently not indexed” means, and when to request indexing.
  • A monthly check. Five minutes: new queries, pages losing clicks, any new errors.
